Buyer comparison guide · Editorial revision September 2, 2026
Hide the totals for ten minutes. Put every quote into the same scope table and compare what will physically arrive, which company finishes the work, which records come with the unit and what remains on your side. A shell, a VIN-assigned rolling shell and a completed mobile kitchen are not competing prices for the same product.
Use this worksheet to catch a scope gap before a low headline number becomes an expensive surprise.
01Start by naming the delivery point
Write one sentence at the top of each quote: "At handoff, this supplier will deliver __________ at __________, and the following company will complete __________."
If that sentence cannot be completed, the quote is not ready to compare.
For the current MOBITRUCK U.S. path, the stages may be divided among three companies:
- MOBITRUCK manufactures and prepares the approved shell kit at the production facility in Estonia.
- Concession Nation assembles the current U.S. rolling shell, assigns the American VIN and completes the applicable vehicle-certification work for its supplied stage.
- Concession Nation or another qualified builder completes the interior, equipment and assigned inspections under the final-build contract.
The actual proposal and unit records control the scope. The website describes the workflow, not the contents of a specific order.
02Use one comparison table
Copy the quoted language into this table. Do not replace a missing answer with an assumption.
| Scope item | Quote A | Quote B | Quote C | Who finishes it? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Platform, model and dimensions | ||||
| Shell components and exterior finish | ||||
| U.S. assembly stage | ||||
| VIN and manufacturer/certification records | ||||
| Axles, brakes, tires and stated ratings | ||||
| Doors, windows and service openings | ||||
| Interior wall, ceiling and floor finishes | ||||
| Cabinets, counters and storage | ||||
| Food-service equipment by manufacturer/model | ||||
| Electrical distribution and power source | ||||
| Plumbing, tanks and water heating | ||||
| Fuel-gas system, if used | ||||
| Ventilation and fire-suppression scope | ||||
| HVAC and heat-load assumptions | ||||
| Drawings and revision allowance | ||||
| Plan-review or inspection support | ||||
| Graphics, signage and menu boards | ||||
| Freight, delivery and pickup conditions | ||||
| Training or handoff inspection | ||||
| Warranty by component and responsible company | ||||
| Taxes, registration, permits and fees |
03Replace broad words with testable descriptions
These phrases need a follow-up:
| Quote says | Ask for |
|---|---|
| Commercial equipment | Manufacturer, model, quantity, cut sheet and warranty source |
| Electrical included | Service size, voltage, load schedule, panel, outlets, power source and exclusions |
| Plumbing included | Fixture list, tank capacities, water heater, pump, materials, service points and winterization assumptions |
| Code compliant | Which scope, which adopted rule, which reviewing authority and which inspection record? |
| Turnkey | A line-by-line list of what remains for the buyer before legal operation |
| Warranty included | Issuing company, covered work, duration, exclusions, claim process and service location |
| Delivery included | Destination, unloading, insurance, damage inspection and acceptance terms |
"Included" should point to a drawing, schedule, model number or written responsibility. It should not depend on a sales conversation that never reaches the contract.
04Compare documents, not badges
For a trailer-stage proposal, ask which party supplies the physical VIN label, manufacturer identity, origin document, certification label, axle and brake records, GVWR/GAWR information, tire/loading information, bill of sale and written warranty.
NHTSA trailer-manufacturer guidance explains that trailers manufactured for sale in the United States have VIN and certification responsibilities, and that certification labels include vehicle and weight-rating information. Those federal vehicle records do not approve the food operation or the site.
For a food-service completion proposal, ask which party supplies the equipment schedule, cut sheets, floor plan, utility diagrams, licensed-trade records, plan-review responses, inspection results and operating manuals required by the project.
05Compare changes before signing
Ask every supplier the same five questions:
- When are the shell openings frozen?
- When are equipment models frozen?
- What happens when an authority requires a change?
- Who prices and approves a change order?
- Which documents are updated after the change?
A quote that does not explain revision control can become expensive even when its starting total is attractive.
06Compare the handoff and warranty boundary
Write the responsible company beside each line:
- shell-kit components and finish;
- rolling-shell assembly, running gear and vehicle documents;
- final-builder workmanship;
- installed equipment manufacturer warranties;
- plumbing, electrical, gas, ventilation and fire-suppression work;
- graphics and signage;
- freight damage;
- service after delivery.
If two companies share a project, ask how a buyer reports a problem that could sit on either side of the boundary. The answer belongs in the contract package, not only on a web page.
07A useful price review has three totals
- Quoted total: what the supplier will invoice under the current assumptions.
- Known outside scope: identified costs assigned to another supplier or the buyer.
- Unresolved allowance: items that cannot yet be responsibly priced because the location, equipment or authority requirements are not settled.
The three totals expose the remaining decisions without presenting the result as a guaranteed final cost.

FAQQuestions buyers usually ask
Should I compare price per foot?
Not by itself. Length does not capture shell form, openings, running gear, equipment, technical systems, finish, documentation or completion level. Compare price only after scope is normalized.
Is a VIN the same as approval to operate?
No. Vehicle identification and certification are separate from food-service licensing, fire review, site permission and other state or local decisions.
Can I ask my own builder to quote the final interior?
Yes. Give that builder the same shell drawings, handoff package, equipment list and operating-jurisdiction information. Use the builder handoff checklist before transfer.
